Flake ZnAl Alloy as an Effective Pigment in Silicate Coatings for the Corrosion Protection of Steel

Spherical zinc is well known as an effective pigment for the corrosion protection of carbon steel. However, a high proportion spherical Zn in coating leads to difficulties fabricating solution and increased cost. In this work, influence flake ZnAl alloy silicate coatings on properties steel substrates was investigated. The electrochemical behaviour containing different content immersed NaCl (3.5 wt%) evaluated using impedance spectroscopy (EIS) method. A salt spray test performed evaluate surface. Pull-off tests before after process were performed, surface morphology analysed determine degradation resistance. results show that (25 possesses highest total resistance (1417 Ω) longest time appearance white rust (720 h). 25 wt% found include products with most compacted surface, which effectively prevents penetration electrolytes interface between
